Dr Govind

Dr. Govind is Senior Director, heading the E-Infrastructure & Internet Governance Division, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. He also holds the position of CEO of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI).

After doing his doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in 1979 in Plasma Physics and Electromagnetic Wave propagation, he joined IIT as a Researcher. He has twenty four technical research publications and articles in international and national journals. Thereafter, he joined the Govt. of India, where his experience covers the fields of policy and technology development in the E-Infrastructure, Broadband Internet space and Internet Governance.

Dr. Govind headed the Secretariat of Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from 2006 to 2011. He continues to represent the country as Advisor in the GAC of ICANN. He is an ongoing Member of the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group of Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
