A double Bachelors in Humanities and Law, Amitabh Singhal, from India,has more than four decades of corporate and non-profit work experience. He has held executive, board, and leadership positions in the Internet, telecom, and information technology sectors and at various nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, including in the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Domain Name Services (DNS) space.

As co-founder and then Secretary and President of the ISP Association of India, Singhal helped shepherd the privatization of ISP services following the open internet, net neutrality principles. He also conceived and helped set up critical Internet infrastructure projects, collaborating with India’s Department of Electronics and Information Technology (then Department of IT), to establish the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), of which he was the founder and CEO, to establish India’s first Internet exchange points, helped relaunched .IN country code top-level domain and set up India’s first 3 Root instances.

Singhal also played a key role, with MeitY, in bringing international conferences such as SANOG, APNIC and mentored the capacity to hold ICANN and the IGF in India for the first time to encourage the country’s participation in I* organizations. He has served as Board Member with various Non Profits, and PIR Board as Member/Secretary, and is currently serving serve as an ICANN Board Member.
